Fiona Turner is one of New Zealand’s most acclaimed winemakers with a background in California, Central Otago, and Hawkes Bay. In 2003, she decided to break away and start producing wine under her own name. Fiona was determined about what she sought: vineyards that produce fruit with good concentration but backed by a firm, high acidity. In the sub-region of Blind River, Marlborough, she found exactly what she was looking for. Marlborough is located at the northeastern tip of the South Island and is one of the sunniest regions in all of New Zealand. While the daytime temperature is high, the nights here are cool, which gives a slow grape ripening that concentrates the flavors and provides a perfect balance between sugar and acidity. In addition to her own fruit, Fiona complements with grapes from carefully selected growers and areas, based on cultivation techniques, soil types, and climatic conditions. With Tinpot Hut, Fiona aims to convey an aromatic, fruit-driven, and elegant style with lovely concentration and fresh acidity.
