Phil Sexton founded the winery in Yarra Valley in 2003. His focus as a winemaker is to produce premium-segment wines from a cool climate. Here, they produce wines that show the maximum character of the site’s terroir and climate. The accolades and awards are many, with perhaps the most prestigious mention coming from Wine & Spirits Magazine, which in recent years has placed Giant Steps on its top 100 list of the world’s best wineries. Giant Steps wines are characterized by high acidity, slender tannins, and an insatiable juiciness. Stainless steel tanks, delicate barrel aging, and millimeter precision in vineyard location are some of the success recipes that have taken Giant Steps to the star status they have today.
