Raventós i Blanc

SPAIN

21 Generations of Spanish Sparkling

In 1872, Joseph Ravenóts Fatjo experimented with making sparkling wines in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Penèdes), which laid the foundations for what we today so strongly associate with sparkling wines and Spain, namely Cava. That's why Pepe Raventós, today's owner and relative of Joseph stands for some of the world's best sparkling wine from Spain. From 2012, the decision was made to step out of DO Cava as they wanted a freer approach to winemaking and not be associated with what DO Cava has become today, they wanted to do better than that. Today, Raventós i Blanc's wines are classified as “Wine of Spain” but they are made in exactly the same places as in the past, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, and the focus on quality has never been higher than under Pepe Raventós' rule. With experience dating as far back as 1497 when Raventós i Blanc was founded and 21 generations later, they have learned to work efficiently in the vineyards, respecting traditional production methods and bio-synergies. This means that the farm is run organically, adapting to the vineyard, soil, climate and vines.
