Shea Wine Cellars

USA

A Legendary Vineyard

Shea has a small production, of which about 25% goes to their own wines, while the rest of the harvest is sold to producers such as Bergström Winery, Ancien Wines, and Antica Terra, among others. The focus is on growing and producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of the highest possible quality. They do this in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA, where there are good conditions for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with fresh acidity and concentrated fruit. Shea’s vineyards are protected by surrounding hills that act as a shield against colder weather during the day. Dick Shea once measured a temperature 8 degrees higher at Shea than in the town of Carlton just a few kilometers away. This contributes to powerfully fruity and ripe wines that stand out from the crowd in Oregon. Shea’s style is often described as muscular, powerful, and intense, which goes against the trend in Oregon where wines tend to be more elegant and lighter. However, given the natural conditions and Shea’s terroir, they have made the best of it and adapted to the conditions to create something extraordinary and unique.
