An Icon in Soave

Pieropan is today seen as a beacon in Soave. They were the first in Soave to work organically and with specific vineyard sites. Here they clearly show that Soave does not have to stand for cheap, watery white wine, but they can be complex and amazing. For over a century, the Pieropan family has revolutionized winemaking in Soave, becoming one of Italy's most admired wine families. The Pieropan legacy began in the late 1800s when the visionary winemaker Leonildo Pieropan purchased the historic Palazzo Pallucci in the medieval village of Soave. Today, Teresita and her sons, Andrea and Dario, carry on the patriarch's vision. Andrea oversees the vineyards and Dario the winemaking. They still pride themselves on the same meticulous attention to detail as their ancestors did.

The Pieropan family cultivates the land in an environmentally conscious and ecological approach. They blend the historic craftsmanship with modern technology. The first vineyard to be produced as “single vineyard” Soave Classico was Calvarino - in 1971. Pieropan is credited with initiating a renaissance of quality viticulture in Soave. The family's persistence in releasing single vineyard sites, from selected hillsides, has raised the status of Soave and put an entire region on the lips of all quality-conscious connoisseurs.

In short - there is Soave, and then there is Pieropan!
